Aims

The Equal-Life Project

The Equal-Life project* is about the effect of early physical and social exposure on children’s mental health and cognitive development later on. All these exposures together we call the exposome. The first few years in the life of a child are important for mental illness and their cognitive development and later life. The possible outcomes include diagnosed disorders, symptoms and behaviour, well-being, cognitive outcomes, school success, and the ability to cope with future health problems. The project aims to gain insight into which and how these exposures are linked to mental health and cognitive development outcomes in children and based on these develop interventions to improve environments for all children to grow up.

Our Objectives

Stained Tree

Equal-Life seeks to assess the total external (physical and social) and internal exposure with a specific focus on creating environments that benefit the health of children

Air Pollution

Equal-Life defines and maps risk factors/health-promoting factors. The approach combines early life exposures (from 0 years of age to 21) to physical and social aspects of the environment, activities and settings relevant for children and adolescents

Hot Air Balloons

Equal-Life aims to define and explore a set of interventions for different life stages. The focus is on the total environment, including aspects relevant for restoration and how this is distributed over different groups of children

Browser

Equal-Life aims to build a toolbox that will help evaluate the effects of physical and social environmental exposure at different levels. The tool will consist of a set of modules integrated into a web application.

Equal- Life participates in the H2020 Open Research initiative.
